Discovery 1 DIY GPS Dash-mount
The standard suction cup GPS mount that came with my Garmin has never stuck satisfactorily to the windscreen; after a while inevitably plopping onto the dashboard. I considered mounting a hook of sorts on my dash that the internal mechanism can latch onto, but in the end settled on a far simpler option.
The plastic disc is a 63mm pipe end-cap, which I epoxied into place after cutting a little of the dash away using a Stanley knife. The same knife was used to refashion the rubber trim to fit snugly back in place.
The suction cup appears to hold on quite nicely to the disc … time will tell.
